Nicholas Sculthorpe is a Professor and Associate Dean (Research & Innovation) at the School of Health and Life Sciences, University of the West of Scotland. His expertise spans Exercise Physiology, Cardiac/Vascular Health, and Mobile Health (mHealth). He leads a research group focused on mHealth interventions for Long COVID, Multiple Sclerosis, and aging populations, funded by the Chief Scientist Office (CSO) and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

Recent work includes developing mobile apps for real-time activity data collection and just-in-time adaptive interventions. Collaborations include the Healthy Ageing Collaborative and CSO-funded studies. His group investigates symptom management strategies for Long COVID and ME/CFS through co-production workshops.
Publications highlight impaired physical capacity in Long COVID/ME/CFS patients and the efficacy of mHealth tools. Current projects aim to expand mHealth applications for debilitating fatiguing conditions and enhance ultrasound analysis via data science.
