Nicholas Nicoli is a Professor of Communication and Associate Head of the Department of Communications at the University of Nicosia. He coordinates the Doctoral Programme in Media and Communication and serves as a Member of the University Senate. His expertise spans communication policy, media management, and digital democracy.

Nicholas's research focuses on the political economy of communications, platform power, and the intersection of democracy with digital media. He analyzes entities like the BBC, CYBC, TripAdvisor, and Meta, and investigates the EU’s Digital Markets Act, Digital Services Act, and Code of Practice on Disinformation.
His recent publications highlight trends in digital storytelling, blockchain applications for media trust, and regulatory frameworks for platform power. These works align with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to digital equity and democratic engagement.
Nicholas actively disseminates research through editorial roles on The Journal of Media Business Studies and The Journal of Digital Media & Policy. He co-founded the Centre of Communication Studies and Research in Cyprus and collaborates with the European Media Management Association.
His professional affiliations include the European Media Management Association (EMMA), Cyprus Advertising Regulation Organisation, and participation in events like TEDx and Digital Agenda Cyprus. He also contributes to European science communication projects.
