Nicholas La Delfa is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Ontario Tech University. His work focuses on occupational biomechanics, neuromechanics, and proactive ergonomics, with a particular interest in muscle fatigue, digital human modeling, and manual task optimization. Dr. La Delfa holds a PhD in Occupational Biomechanics, an MSc in Biomechanics, and a BSc (Honours) in Kinesiology from McMaster University, and completed postdoctoral fellowship in Shoulder Biomechanics at the University of Waterloo.
His research explores the neuromuscular fatigue and recovery mechanisms, upper extremity strength prediction, and digital human modeling for workplace ergonomics. He has secured significant funding through NSERC Discovery Grants, Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) awards, and Mitacs Accelerate grants. Dr. La Delfa collaborates with researchers at University of Waterloo, McMaster University, University of Windsor, and General Motors.
Recent publications highlight advancements in exoskeleton technology, muscle fatigue assessment, and ergonomic software validation. He teaches courses in Biomechanics, Occupational Ergonomics, and Advanced Human Factors, and leads the Climactic Human Factors and Performance Laboratory, funded through a CFI-JELF grant.
