Nicholas Graziane, PhD, is an Associate Professor at Pennsylvania State University, holding dual appointments in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine and the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics. He is affiliated with the Center for Cannabis and Natural Product Pharmaceuticals (CCNPP) and the Penn State Neuroscience Institute. His research focuses on molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying drug addiction and chronic pain, employing electrophysiology and optogenetics to study synaptic transmission and neural circuits.
Education includes a BS and PhD from SUNY Buffalo (2001–2010), followed by postdoctoral training at Brown University (2010–2012) and the University of Pittsburgh (2012–2017).
Key research interests include opioid-context associations, the role of the nucleus accumbens shell in addiction, and cannabinoid-based therapies for pain management. He has received the Junior Faculty Research Scholar Award (2018). His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
Labs/Teams: CCNPP and Penn State Neuroscience Institute. Current projects explore remyelination compounds for opioid use disorder and the therapeutic potential of cannabichromene (CBC).
