معرفی
Dr Nicholas Graham is an Honorary Lecturer at the School of Health & Wellbeing, University of Glasgow, based at the Mental Health and Wellbeing facility at Gartnavel Royal Hospital. His research focuses on psychiatric genetics, particularly the interplay between mental health conditions (e.g., schizophrenia, depression) and cardiometabolic traits using large-scale datasets like the UK Biobank. Key interests include genetic risk factors for mental disorders, polygenic associations, and the epidemiological links between mental health and cardiovascular outcomes.
His work spans genetic analyses of loci (e.g., DCC, PCSK9, ASTN2), mood instability, anhedonia, and suicidality. He collaborates extensively on studies exploring genetic correlations between psychiatric and cardiometabolic disorders, leveraging Mendelian randomization and genome-wide association studies (GWAS). Recent studies highlight his focus on polygenic risk scores, trauma assessment in mental health teams, and social determinants of suicide/self-harm.
Graham’s publications reflect a strong emphasis on translating genetic findings into clinical contexts, such as evaluating drug targets (e.g., PCSK9 inhibitors) and understanding how genetic susceptibility impacts comorbid conditions. He has contributed to over 29 peer-reviewed articles, with a consistent focus on large cohort studies and genomic data analysis.
