Dr. Nicholas Gabler is a Professor and holder of the John F. Patience Endowed Professorship in Swine Nutrition at Iowa State University's Department of Animal Science within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. His research focuses on swine nutrition, dietary strategies to improve growth performance, intestinal health, bone mineralization, and mitigating challenges like enteric diseases and heat stress. He has a Doctor of Philosophy (La Trobe University, Australia, 2005) and a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (La Trobe University, 1999).
Research interests include optimizing feed formulations, understanding nutrient interactions with disease, and enhancing animal welfare through environmental enrichment. His recent work emphasizes fiber utilization, vitamin D requirements, and the effects of feed additives on pig health. He also investigates the impact of nutritional strategies on managing supply chain disruptions and improving feed efficiency under stress conditions.
Dr. Gabler has received the John F. Patience Endowed Professorship, recognizing his contributions to swine nutrition science. His work bridges nutritional physiology with practical applications in livestock production, addressing both economic and animal welfare priorities.
