Dr. Nicholas Cothros is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Neurology at Queen's University, affiliated with the School of Medicine. He holds cross-appointments at Queen's University Centre for Neuroscience Studies and the Translational Institute of Medicine (TIME).
Education: MSc and PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Western Ontario, MD from McMaster University's Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. Completed residency in adult neurology and clinical fellowships in epilepsy/electroencephalography (at Western Ontario) and movement disorders (at University of Calgary).
Research focuses on human motor control and behavioral/cognitive neuroscience, with clinical interests in tic disorders (Tourette syndrome), dystonia, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and botulinum toxin therapy for movement disorders. His work bridges neurological conditions with neurophysiological mechanisms.
Awards include support from the Tourette Association of America, Parkinson Alberta, and Canadian League Against Epilepsy. Active in clinical practice and translational research, with expertise in cerebellar ataxia and drug-induced movement disorders.
