Nicholas Ayres

Nicholas Ayres is a Lecturer in Cyber Security at the School of Computer Science and Informatics, De Montfort University. He holds a PhD in Computer Science (2021), an MSc in Cyber Security (2014), and a BSc in Engineering Information Technology (1996), all from DMU.

His research focuses on automotive security, social engineering, and cyber-physical systems. Key trends include securing autonomous transport, cybersecurity in vehicle architectures, and phishing mitigation using AI techniques. He leads modules in Linux Security, Cyber Threat Intelligence, and Emerging Topics in Security.

Recent externally funded research includes Resilient Communications for Autonomous Transport (2021-2022), where he acts as Principal Investigator. He is affiliated with the Cyber Security Centre and Cyber Technology Institute at DMU.
