معرفی
Niamh Daly is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Archaeology at University College Cork (UCC). Her research focuses on a bioarchaeological investigation of female kinship ties in Early Medieval Ireland, supervised by Dr. Barra Ó Donnabháin as part of the Biological Anthropology and Bioarchaeology Research Group. The study examines how Christian influence impacted women's societal roles in a patrilineal society through burial practices and isotopic analysis.
- Research Questions:
- 1. Visibility of post-marital residence patterns in burial records (400–1200 AD).
- 2. Paleomobility evidence via isotopic analysis confirming burial locations for married women.
- 3. Broader societal changes affecting women's experiences during early medievalization.
Using stable isotopic techniques, the research analyzes burials from Co. Galway and Co. Kildare to trace kinship patterns and cultural shifts. This work bridges archaeological and historical records to address gender dynamics in a male-dominated documentary tradition.
