- D.Phil. in English Literature, University of Oxford (2016)
Allsopp's research examines how writers like Andrew Marvell, John Milton, and Margaret Cavendish engaged with political ideologies during the English Revolution. He also prioritizes the recovery of works by underrepresented, non-elite authors, analyzing their circulation and reception within social and local historical frameworks.
His scholarly output includes the 2020 monograph Poetry and Sovereignty in the English Revolution (Oxford University Press) and a reference bibliography on Literature and the English Civil Wars (Oxford Bibliographies Online). He contributed to the Leverhulme-funded project "Writing Religious Conflict and Community in Exeter, 1500-1750," which explores religious identities in Southwest England, producing podcast series and a forthcoming edited volume.
Allsopp supervises postgraduate research in Civil War-era literature and welcomes inquiries from PhD and Masters students. His work often bridges literary analysis with interdisciplinary historical methodologies, emphasizing manuscript traditions and community narratives.
