Nguyen Toan Tran

Prof Nguyen Toan Tran is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Public Health, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). A medical and public health professional with over 20 years of experience in sexual and reproductive health, family medicine, and health system strengthening in humanitarian and development contexts. As a former child refugee, his work focuses on equity and access to healthcare for marginalized populations in resource-constrained settings. His research spans maternal health interventions, pandemic response, and healthcare in humanitarian crises.

Research Interests: Public Health, Maternal Health, Global Health, Health System Strengthening, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), and Emergency Medicine. His work emphasizes scalable solutions in crisis-affected areas, such as postpartum hemorrhage management, vaccine hesitancy, and healthcare provider training in low-resource settings.

Recent Research Trends: Over 25 articles published since 2022 highlight his focus on maternal health in humanitarian settings, including the implementation of heat-stable carbetocin and tranexamic acid to reduce postpartum hemorrhage. Other areas include food insecurity during pandemics, HIV survival in conflict zones, and prison healthcare innovations like medication distribution systems.
