Nezih Pala is an Associate Professor and Ph.D. Graduate Program Director in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Florida International University. His research focuses on nanoscale sensors, terahertz devices, and biomedical technologies.
Pala develops advanced semiconductor devices including diamond-based terahertz generators and detectors, neural network models for photonic device characterization, and multimodal sensor systems. His work on wearable technologies includes non-invasive glucose monitors in sweat, flexible piezoresistive sensors for cardiovascular monitoring, and integrated systems for continuous health assessment.
Recent innovations encompass sonochemical synthesis of zinc oxide nanostructures, Fourier feature neural networks for terahertz device modeling, and deep learning approaches for blood pressure monitoring. Pala consistently bridges nanomaterials, semiconductor physics, and machine learning to develop next-generation sensing platforms.
