University of Maryland, Baltimoreمعرفی
Nevil J. Singh is an Associate Professor at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Maryland School of Medicine. He holds a secondary affiliation as a Member of the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Education:
- PhD in vaccine-antigens against Plasmodium falciparum from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (India)
- Post-doctoral fellowship in T cell tolerance under Ron Schwartz at NIAID, NIH
Research Interests:
The Nevil Lab investigates T cell responses to pathogens, tumors, and self-antigens, focusing on mechanisms of:
- Negative regulatory pathways in T cells that restrain autoimmunity but limit anti-tumor responses
- Antigen discrimination by T cells using molecular genetic approaches
- Neuroimmune interactions via neurotransmitter regulation of T cell functions
- IL-12 cytokine family signaling in dendritic cell-T cell communication
- Tissue-specific immune memory maintenance through sub-threshold self-ligands
Lab Overview:
Current projects include collaborations with NIAID/NIH studying IL-12p40 subunit biology, DARPA-funded systems vaccinology initiatives, and computational modeling of vaccine responses. The lab employs mouse models, molecular profiling, and computational methods to explore T cell tolerance, memory persistence, and neuroimmune signaling.
