Nevena Gavazova

Assoc. Prof. Nevena Gavazova is an academic at the St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo, affiliated with the Faculty of Modern Languages and the Department of Bulgarian Literature. Her research focuses on Medieval Bulgarian Literature, Hagiography, Byzantine-Slavic Cultural Exchange, and Orthodox Theology.

• Co-organizer of international conferences on Athonite-Slavic spiritual traditions

Research Interests center on analyzing Old Bulgarian manuscripts, hagiographic texts, and Byzantine religious philosophy. Her work bridges medieval ethics, spiritual biographies, and Slavic philology, with a focus on intertextuality between Ladder of Divine Ascent and Bulgarian literature.

Recent publications (2013–2025) examine 14th-century saints' lives, manuscript translations, and ascetic practices like fasting and charity. She contributes to cultural heritage preservation through digitization initiatives and international symposiums.
