Netta Engelhardt

Netta Engelhardt is the Biedenharn Career Development Associate Professor of Physics at MIT, specializing in quantum gravity and black hole physics. Her research resolves fundamental paradoxes at the intersection of gravity, quantum mechanics, and information theory.

Current work addresses the black hole information paradox through holographic principles and quantum information theory. She develops frameworks to reconcile general relativity with quantum mechanics, particularly examining quantum aspects of black holes and spacetime emergence.

Awards include the New Horizons in Physics Prize (2021) for calculating quantum information content of black holes, and the DOE Early Career Award (2021). Her research reexamines foundational principles of gravitational physics through quantum information approaches.
