Nessim Abu-Zahra serves as a Part-time Professor at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law (Common Law Section), where he teaches Studies in Public Law: Pharmaceutical IP & Regulation.

As a registered patent agent with Health Canada Legal Services since 2008, he advises government officials on complex patent litigation and regulatory compliance matters affecting the pharmaceutical industry.
Professor Abu-Zahra served as a Member of the Patent Appeal Board (2015-2016) and co-authored the authoritative text The Regulation of Drugs in Canada: The Food and Drugs Act and Related Intellectual Property Regimes (Irwin Law, 2024), establishing him as a leading scholar in Canadian pharmaceutical regulatory law.
