Nenad Pavlović serves as an Assistant Professor in Vegetable Growing at the Faculty of Agronomy, University of Kragujevac, Serbia. His academic career combines teaching responsibilities with extensive research in vegetable crop production, particularly focusing on Allium species, pepper, and sustainable agricultural systems.
Dr. Pavlović's educational journey includes:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from Faculty of Agriculture in Zemun (1996)
- Master's degree in Biotechnical Sciences (Genomics and vegetable plant breeding) from Faculty of Agriculture, Zemun (1999)
- PhD in Biotechnical Sciences (Crop production) from Faculty of Agriculture, Zemun (2010)
- 30-day specialized study in Beijing, China on "Vegetable Sciences and Technology"
His research expertise centers on vegetable breeding and seed production, with notable contributions to understanding quantitative trait inheritance in garlic (Allium cepa L.). Dr. Pavlović has developed multiple vegetable varieties and hybrids while investigating sustainable production methods, organic seed certification, and climate change adaptation strategies. His work demonstrates strong integration of traditional breeding techniques with modern sustainable agricultural practices, addressing practical challenges faced by Serbian farmers.
Analysis of Dr. Pavlović's recent publications (2023-2025) reveals a consistent research trajectory focused on sustainable agricultural systems, climate resilience, and seed quality parameters. His work spans multiple vegetable crops including pepper, onion, garlic, cucumber, and forage legumes, with particular emphasis on how environmental factors affect seed production and quality. His interdisciplinary approach combines plant breeding, soil science, and food science to develop practical solutions for contemporary agricultural challenges, with increasing attention to organic production methods and climate adaptation strategies.
Dr. Pavlović has authored or co-authored 141 scientific publications and developed 4 vegetable varieties and 2 hybrids along with one technical solution. His research has been supported through participation in strategic projects of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia and international collaborations such as the Seednet project focused on preserving vegetable species gene pools in Serbia.
He has managed significant research initiatives including the STAR project for agricultural reform in Serbia, specifically the "Production of organically certified vegetable seeds with mastery of adequate technologies of organic seed production." Dr. Pavlović contributes to the scientific journal Acta Agriculturae Serbica published by his faculty and participates in the Faculty's International Biotechnology Symposium. His research bridges academic inquiry with practical agricultural applications, directly supporting Serbia's vegetable production sector through variety development and sustainable production techniques.
