Nell Reidy is a Research Fellow at Monash University’s National Indigenous Disaster Resilience program under the Fire to Flourish initiative. She specializes in trauma-informed and healing-centred engagement with First Nations communities, focusing on disaster resilience and policy systems change. Her work bridges academia and practice, informed by seven years of collaborative research with Indigenous groups across Australia. Prior to her current role, she held government positions designing community-driven policy frameworks, including Treaty-related programs for Victorian First Nations communities.
Education: Doctorate by Research in Human Geography Anthrop & Devel Studies from Monash University’s School of Social Sciences.
Research Interests: Indigenous leadership in disaster management, cultural memory practices, UN SDG alignment, and community-driven policy innovation. Her work emphasizes ethical collaboration, trust-building, and centering Indigenous knowledge systems in emergency planning and resilience frameworks.
