Nele Jäger is a Research Fellow at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg, specializing in sculpture and contemporary art practices. Her work bridges artistic creation and scientific inquiry, as emphasized by her role in the Qualifizierungsprogramm (qualification program).
She holds a background from the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nuremberg and Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe, with further studies in sculpture at Bard College, New York. Her practice is marked by installations such as Tearing Hands (2022), exhibited globally at institutions like the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin, and The Guest New York.
Jäger has received prestigious awards including the Federal Prize for Art Students (2021) from Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Bavarian Art Promotion Prize from the State Ministry of Science and Art. Her work explores materiality and spatial dynamics, often engaging with themes of human interaction and environment.
Her exhibitions span Europe and the U.S., showcasing her interdisciplinary approach across sculpture, installation, and public art. She contributes to the Academy’s teaching and research initiatives through her artistic-scientific practice.
