Neil Turner is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia's Institute of Agriculture. He also holds Visiting Professorships at Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (since 2017) and Lanzhou University (since 2008). His research focuses on crop-water relations, pulse physiology, drought resistance, and salinity tolerance. Turner has contributed to over 280 publications and led 14 grants, including major projects on improving chickpea and canola resilience under abiotic stresses.
Key achievements include the development of the AusTraits plant trait database and awards such as the Member (AM) of the Order of Australia, Chancellor’s Medal (UWA), and the Dunhuang Award. His work addresses global challenges in sustainable agriculture, particularly in water-limited regions.
Research interests span plant stress physiology, crop improvement, and ecohydrology. Collaborations with institutions worldwide highlight his global impact. Turner’s contributions to agricultural science prioritize enhancing crop productivity and environmental resilience.
