Professor Neil Gregor holds the position of Professor of Modern European History at the University of Southampton. His research focuses on 20th-century German history, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of art music, cultural histories, and the dynamics of memory in post-war Germany. He has authored seminal works such as Daimler-Benz in the Third Reich (1998) and Haunted City: Nuremberg and the Nazi Past (2008), both recognized with prestigious awards. His current research explores the consumption of art music in Nazi Germany, blending social history with sensory and emotional methodologies. Gregor has held significant roles, including Chair of the German Historical Institute London and the Documentation Centre Nuremberg Party Rally Grounds. His work frequently bridges historical analysis with interdisciplinary approaches, examining music’s role in ideological contexts and post-war memory landscapes.
