Neha Gondal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and the Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences at Boston University. Her research integrates mathematical and computational techniques to examine how social networks and cultural dynamics perpetuate social inequalities.
- Education: PhD in Sociology from Rutgers University (2013).
Her work spans diverse contexts such as moneylending in Renaissance Florence, status hierarchies in academia, public health in Boston housing developments, and organizational diversity management. She employs methods like exponential random graph models, machine learning, and agent-based simulations.
Recent projects analyze the role of social networks in health behavior diffusion, diversity strategies in organizations, and the cultural meanings of relationships in shaping status distinctions. Her research has been funded by NIH R01 grants, CWESP-SSRC grants, and other fellowships.
