Neferti Xina M. Tadiar

Neferti Xina M. Tadiar is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies at Barnard College. Previously, she taught at the University of California, Santa Cruz's Department of History of Consciousness.

• Academic Focus: Critical Social and Cultural Theory, Transnational/Third World Feminisms, Postcolonial Theory, Philippine/Filipino Literature and Culture
• Research: Analyzes cultural practices and social imaginaries in global wealth/power dynamics, focusing on Philippine societies and broader issues of gender, race, and sexuality in transnationalism and globalization

Her notable works include the books Things Fall Away (2009) and Fantasy-Production (2004), the latter winning the Philippine National Book Award. She is co-editor of the journal Social Text.
