Nefeli Effrosyni Novak is a Tenure Track Researcher in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), working with the KT Consortium CERE - Center for Energy Resources Engineering. Her research focuses on developing and applying thermodynamic models for complex fluid systems.
Her primary research interests include:
- Equations of State development and application
- Phase Equilibria of electrolyte and mixed solvent systems
- Thermodynamic modeling of aqueous and non-aqueous electrolyte solutions
- Water properties and anomalies through molecular-based approaches
- Activity coefficient calculations for ionic systems
Dr. Novak's recent publication record shows a strong focus on advancing the theoretical foundations of electrolyte thermodynamics. Her work bridges molecular simulations with practical equations of state, particularly through adaptations of the SAFT (Statistical Associating Fluid Theory) framework. She has made significant contributions to modeling water properties using two-state theories and extending electrolyte models to non-aqueous systems.
She is actively involved in major research projects:
- Molecular equations of state for electrolyte solutions (2024-2027) - as supervisor
- ElectroThermo: New Paradigm in Electrolyte Thermodynamics (2019-2024) - as project participant
Dr. Novak collaborates extensively with researchers across institutions, including work with G.M. Kontogeorgis, X. Liang, and international collaborators from Princeton University, Imperial College London, and other leading institutions in the field of thermodynamics.
