Neesha Michael is a Professor of Liberal Arts at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) since Fall 2023. She previously held roles including Associate Professor (2020) and Assistant Professor (2015–2020) at Savannah State University, focusing on English and literature. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. in English from the University of Missouri-Columbia, an M.F.A. in Writing from Chatham University, and a B.A. in History/Writing from Loyola University Maryland.
Her research interests span creative nonfiction, rhetoric, and composition studies. She has presented at conferences such as the Student Success in Writing Conference (2021, 2017, 2016), emphasizing innovative teaching methods like multimodal composition and rhetorical analysis through music.
Awarded the Exchange Club Teacher of the Month (2021), CASE Awards (2010), and ADDY Awards (2010), her work includes editing books like SCAD Museum of Art Curriculum Guide (2011) and contributing to publications like Flashquake and Pittsburgh Fashion Online. She has coordinated academic programs, led workshops on academic writing, and directed writing services at SCAD.
Her professional experience includes roles as Managing Editor of Center: A Journal of the Literary Arts (2006–2007) and Director of Writing and Editorial Services at SCAD (2010–2012). She remains active in literary communities, including the College Art Association and Renaissance Society of America.
