Dr. Neeraj Agarwal is a Professor of Medicine and Presidential Endowed Chair of Cancer Research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI), University of Utah. He directs the Genitourinary Oncology Program and Center of Investigational Therapeutics at HCI, while serving as Senior Director of clinical research overseeing clinical and late translational research at this NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center.
Dr. Agarwal completed his medical training at All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, followed by an internal medicine residency and geriatric medicine fellowship at University of Iowa, and a hematology-oncology fellowship at HCI.
As an internationally recognized physician-scientist specializing in genitourinary cancers, particularly prostate cancer, Dr. Agarwal has developed numerous experimental agents including AR inhibitors, radiopharmaceuticals, PARP inhibitors, and tyrosine kinase inhibitors. His research focuses on biomarker development (including HSD3B1, SPOP, TSG loss) and novel therapeutic approaches for advanced prostate, renal cell, and bladder cancers. He has been instrumental in trials leading to FDA/EMA approvals of apalutamide, olaparib, and talazoparib for metastatic prostate cancer.
His extensive publication record includes over 550 scientific papers, with recent work focusing on racial disparities in prostate cancer, BMI correlations with survival in metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer, and novel therapeutic combinations. His research spans clinical trials, biomarker development, and health disparities in genitourinary malignancies.

His leadership extends to editorial roles for Journal of Clinical Oncology and European Urology.
As director of the Genitourinary Oncology Program and Center of Investigational Therapeutics, Dr. Agarwal leads multidisciplinary teams focused on developing novel therapeutic approaches for genitourinary malignancies. His research program includes clinical trials, biomarker development, and translational research initiatives focused on improving outcomes for patients with advanced prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers.
