Neeme Näripä is a Lecturer in Latin and Ancient Greek at the University of Tartu's Institute of Foreign Languages and Cultures (1.00 FTE since 2020). He holds a Doctorate (2019) and Research Master's (2007) in Classical Philology from Tartu. His academic roles include teaching at the Tartu Jaan Poska Gymnasium (since 2013, 0.15 FTE) and a Junior Research Fellowship at Tartu University Library (2017-2020). He specializes in Aristotelian philosophy, ancient Greek rhetoric, and the reception of classical antiquity in Estonian cultural history.
Education: B.A. (2005), M.Res. (2007), and Ph.D. (2019) in Classical Philology from University of Tartu, with a 2-month fellowship at Göttingen University (2006). Research focuses on stasis theory, ancient political rhetoric, and textual analysis of Greek and Latin literature. Active in projects like Helleno-Nordica (2017-2022), exploring the Swedish Empire's Greek heritage.
Research interests combine ancient philosophy (Aristotelian categories) with philological analysis of Hellenistic and Byzantine texts. Key publications include studies on Sappho fragments, Lucianic satire, and ancient linguistic patterns. Advised master's theses on Euripides' irrationalist themes and Argive mythological traditions.
