Neda Mohammadi is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the University of Oxford's Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics (DPAG), working in the Paterson Group under Professor David Paterson. Her research focuses on neuro-cardiac interactions using induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models to investigate sympathoadrenergic diseases.
Her academic background includes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacology and Innovative Therapeutics from Queen Mary University of London (2018)
- PhD candidate at Imperial College London (in progress)
Her primary research examines structural and functional communication between human iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and neonatal rat sympathetic neurons. She develops all-iPSC models to study disease mechanisms in conditions like heart failure and arrhythmias, integrating stem cell technology with neurophysiological analysis. This work bridges cardiac electrophysiology, autonomic neuroscience, and disease modeling to identify novel therapeutic pathways for sympathoadrenergic disorders.
As part of the Paterson Group at Oxford, she contributes to research on autonomic nervous system regulation of cardiac function, utilizing advanced cellular models to dissect neuro-cardiac signaling pathways in disease contexts.
