Necmi Aksit is an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Education at Bilkent University. He holds dual roles in the Department of English Language Teaching and the Department of Educational Sciences, where he chairs the MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) program. He also serves as Director of the Teacher Education Unit, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Assistant Director of the Graduate School of Education.
Education:
- PhD in Educational Science (1998) from Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey
- MA in English Language Teaching (1992) from METU
- BSc in Foreign Language Education with Qualified Teacher Status (1989) from METU
Research Interests: Dr. Aksit specializes in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP), teacher education, and critical pedagogy. His work also explores curriculum development and evaluation, comparative education, and qualitative meta-analysis.
Publications: His recent work includes contributions to the edited volume Pedagogies in English for Academic Purposes and a journal article in Language and Education analyzing oracy skills in higher education.
Leadership Roles: He has held multiple administrative positions since joining Bilkent University in 2002, including department chair, director of teacher education, and associate dean roles.
