Dr. Necia Chronister is a Professor and German Language Program Coordinator at Kansas State University's Department of Modern Languages. Her research focuses on German literature post-1989, contemporary women writers, gender studies, and L2 pedagogy. She has authored a monograph Domestic Disputes (2021) and edited volumes including Juli Zeh: A Critical Companion (2024). Her work bridges literary analysis with cultural theory, environmental humanities, and feminist critique.
Chronister has presented widely at conferences such as the German Studies Association and Midwest Modern Language Association, delivering lectures on topics like post-unification narratives and gender in German media. She co-edited special issues on Neoliberalism and Juli Zeh in academic journals. Her teaching spans advanced literature seminars, language courses, and interdisciplinary programs like KSU in Berlin.
Recipient of the Max Kade Prize (2019), she is affiliated with MLA, GSA, and AATG. Her scholarship emphasizes critical engagements with home, gender, and contemporary German cultural production.
