Neal Lin

Dr. Neal Lin serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology within the College of Science and Mathematics at the University of North Georgia (UNG), where he specializes in clinical and infectious disease epidemiology. His expertise spans public health, microbiology, and medical education, with a particular focus on advising pre-medical students.

Dr. Lin's educational background includes a B.S. in Microbiology from UC San Diego (2000), an M.P.H. in Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases from Yale (2004), and an M.D. from Ross University School of Medicine (2012). His international experience includes research at National Taiwan University as a Fulbright Scholar.

His research concentrates on epidemiological investigations of infectious diseases including HIV, dengue, botulism, influenza, and prions. Current projects involve collaborations with UNG's Lewis F. Rogers Institute for Environmental and Spatial Analysis on medical geology and with the Department of Kinesiology on health behavioral studies. Dr. Lin actively encourages interdisciplinary research partnerships across campus.

Dr. Lin teaches BIOL 1107K (Principles of Biology I) and has published extensively on botulism outbreaks and dengue epidemiology, with recent work focusing on spatiotemporal disease patterns and clinical diagnostic criteria. His publications demonstrate consistent contributions to infectious disease surveillance methodology and public health response systems.

Professional experience includes roles as Clinical Epidemiologist at the CDC, Epidemiologist at Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and Pandemic Planning Consultant for McHenry County Health Department. He maintains active involvement in public health preparedness and international health initiatives.
