Nazli Akin

Nazli Akin serves as a Research Fellow in the Department of Genetics Reproduction and Development at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), actively contributing to the Reproduction, Genetics and Regenerative Medicine (RGRG) cluster with research centered on advanced reproductive technologies and oocyte biology.

Her scientific focus encompasses:

• Oocyte maturation dynamics and competence
• Cumulus-oocyte complex metabolic interactions
• Carbohydrate and redox metabolism in follicular development
• Epigenetic safety of novel in vitro maturation protocols
• Optimization of IVM techniques for PCOS patients

Recent publications (2023-2024) demonstrate her leadership in metabolic profiling of oocytes, single-cell RNA sequencing applications, and comparative epigenetic analyses between CAPA-IVM and conventional IVF approaches, revealing critical insights for clinical ART optimization.

She received the Wetenschappelijk Fonds Willy Gepts award in 2023 for her innovative research contributions.
