Dr Nazia Yaqub is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Leeds, School of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences. Her expertise spans International Human Rights Law, Child Rights, Family Law, and Law & Religion, with a focus on cross-border parental child abduction, adoption, and famigration. She holds a PhD from the University of Liverpool and is a non-practising Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. Dr Yaqub has held visiting academic posts at Otago (New Zealand) and Antwerp (Belgium) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Her research addresses global legal challenges, including the impact of parental deportation on children, adoption law for Muslim families, and the use of electronic monitoring to prevent child abduction.
