Naveen Eluru

Naveen Eluru is a Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He holds a Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin (2010) and has been at UCF since 2014. His research focuses on transportation systems, sustainable urban design, and advanced econometric modeling to address safety and planning challenges.

Eluru leads the Transportation Econometric Modeling Group (TEMG), which develops frameworks for analyzing transportation behavior, safety, and infrastructure impacts. His work integrates econometric approaches with big data, including social media and sensor data, to inform policy decisions. Key projects include crash prediction models, freight planning, and evaluating transportation investments' community-building effects.

His research has been funded by agencies like the National Science Foundation (NSF), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Eluru has supervised numerous students who now hold academic and research roles globally, including positions at Imperial College London and the University of Queensland.
