Professor Naveed Piracha serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Physics and Engineering at John Carroll University. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Quaid-I-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, Pakistan (1998), where his doctoral work focused on noble gas spectroscopy. Prior to joining John Carroll University in 2002, he worked as a Research Scientist at Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, studying aniline cluster molecular structures.
- Education: Ph.D., Quaid-I-Azam University (1998)
His research focuses on atomic structure, spectroscopic parameters, plasma dynamics, and photochemical processes using advanced spectroscopic techniques. He maintains active collaborations with QAU's Physics Department and Islamabad's National Center of Physics. Teaching specialties include laser spectroscopy, analog/digital electronics, and general physics for both majors and non-majors, as well as a core course on 'How Things Work' for non-science students.
Laboratory activities include operating a tunable laser-based lab at John Carroll University to investigate atomic and molecular spectroscopy.
