Natàlia Ferrer Roca

Natàlia Ferrer Roca is a Lecturer in the Department of Organisation, Business Management and Product Design at the University of Girona, where she teaches courses in destination branding, city branding, and entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation. She is affiliated with the Institute for Research in Tourism (INSETUR) and the research group ONIT, focusing on organisational networks, innovation, and tourism product development.

Her research spans interdisciplinary domains including media studies, cultural economics, and tourism branding. She investigates topics such as film industry innovation, multi-platform film financing, film distribution, and the role of cinema in destination branding, particularly in New Zealand. Her work has been published in prominent journals like Journal of Media Business Studies, Place Branding and Public Diplomacy, Media Industries, and Journal of Sustainable Tourism.

She has conducted academic and consulting work for institutions including the Catalan Government, Barcelona Provincial Council, EURECAT, The Place Brand Observer, the European Broadcasting Union (Geneva), and the European Parliament. She has delivered lectures and taught across four continents—Europe, Africa, Oceania, and South America—through programs like Erasmus Mundus KA107, with recent and upcoming engagements in Bhutan and Mongolia.

She supervises Master’s and PhD theses and is actively involved in international research collaborations. Her academic background includes a PhD in Media Studies from Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand), a Master’s in Communication Policy from Westminster University (London), and a BA in Journalism from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
