Nathaniel Hansen is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Reading (UK), specializing in philosophy of language with emphases on contextualism, experimental semantics, and ordinary language philosophy. He holds a PhD from the University of Chicago (2010) and has served as a postdoctoral researcher at Umeå University (Sweden), Institut Jean-Nicod (Paris), and Stanford University. His current research explores conceptual inflation and aesthetic judgment, supported by prestigious fellowships including the Humboldt Research Fellowship (2021-2023).
Research interests include philosophical investigations into color terms, speech acts (e.g., bullshit, propaganda), and interdisciplinary collaborations with cognitive science. Teaching focuses on advanced topics like philosophy of language, experimental philosophy, and Wittgenstein studies, with courses spanning undergraduate to graduate levels since 2013.
