Nathaniel Cunningham

Nathaniel Cunningham is a Professor of Physics at Nebraska Wesleyan University since 2010. His research focuses on planetary science, astrophysics, and detector systems for astronomical instruments.

• Ph.D. in Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences from University of Colorado at Boulder
• M.S. in Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences from University of Colorado at Boulder
• B.S. in Physics (summa cum laude) with a minor in Philosophy from University of Notre Dame

Research interests include:

• Studying surfaces and atmospheres of small Solar System bodies (moons, comets, asteroids) using ultraviolet spectroscopy
• Developing ground-based and rocket-borne astronomical instruments
• Analyzing data from NASA's New Horizons and ESA's Rosetta missions

He has previously worked on detector systems for the Diocles laser at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and teaches courses ranging from Astronomy to Quantum Mechanics.
