Nathan Walker is a Senior Lecturer in Performance, Moving Image, and Installation at York St John University's School of the Arts, where he also serves as Course Lead for Fine Art. His practice bridges performance art, video, and poetry, emphasizing experimental language-based works. He co-founded Oui Performance in 2009, curating interdisciplinary events in York. His research explores vocal-body dynamics in durational performance and the intersection of performance art with poetry.
Research interests include language as material in artistic practice, the role of voice in performance, and the documentation of ephemeral works. His book *Condensations* (2017) combines visual-textual poetry with Lake District themes. He supervises postgraduate research students and has exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale (2019) and the National Poetry Library (London).
Teaching focuses on experimental practices in time-based media and critical reflection in artistic development. Recent projects include *Twenty Truant Shapes* (2024, GLOAM Gallery) and collaborations with artists like Victoria Gray. His work often engages with Cumbrian dialect, industrial heritage, and landscape.
