Nathan Smith

Dr. Nathan Smith is a Professor in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Arizona and an Astronomer at Steward Observatory. He serves as the Graduate Admissions Chair and is a tenured faculty member.

His work focuses on the evolution and fate of massive stars, particularly their explosive demise and impact on the interstellar medium. Utilizing multiwavelength spectroscopy and high-resolution imaging of supernovae and transients, he investigates real-time stellar explosions and analyzes circumstellar material to understand historical mass-loss episodes.
