Nathan Salvidge is a Lecturer in Development Geography at the Department of Geography and Environmental Science, University of Reading. He is affiliated with the Human Geography Research Cluster and the Global Development Research Division, contributing to research on urban livelihoods and youth geographies. He serves as GES Director for Academic Tutoring and leads undergraduate modules on degrowth, fieldwork, and dissertations.
Research Interests: Nathan's research focuses on precarious urban livelihoods, particularly among youth in cities of the Global South. He investigates spatial and temporal livelihood mobilities using innovative digital tools such as mobile GPS tracking, participatory video, and life-mapping interviews. His work emphasizes ethnographic depth and methodological innovation in understanding informal economies in urban Tanzania.
Publications and Research Trends: His recent publications highlight a strong methodological focus on integrating digital technologies into qualitative research, especially in challenging urban environments.
