Nathan Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Politics at the Department of Social and Political Sciences, School of Social Sciences, Nottingham Trent University. He joined NTU in 2016 as an hourly-paid lecturer, became Lecturer in 2017, and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2021. Previously, he served as a lecturer and graduate teaching assistant at the University of Nottingham (2008-2014), where he earned his PhD in Politics in 2014, and taught languages at Hitchin Language Centre (2004-2008).
Research Focus
Dr. Jones specializes in Spanish and comparative European politics with emphasis on party systems, electoral behavior, and governance dynamics. His research explores:
- Institutional responses to financial crises in Spain
- Transatlantic foreign policy formations
- Voter psychology and electoral design
- Post-9/11 international security alignments

His scholarly output demonstrates consistent focus on Iberian political systems and Anglo-European foreign policy convergence. Recent works analyze territorial politics in Spain and the ideological foundations of pro-US foreign policies under Aznar and Blair, particularly examining pre-9/11 geopolitical decision-making.
