Dr. Nathan Hodson is a Senior Lecturer in Musculoskeletal Physiology at Manchester Metropolitan University, where he investigates skeletal muscle protein metabolism and its regulation through exercise and nutrition. His work spans populations including athletes, individuals with obesity, and those with muscular dystrophy, focusing on non-pharmacological interventions to enhance muscle quality.
- PhD in Skeletal Muscle Metabolism
- Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Toronto
- Academic Interests: mTORC1-lysosomal-autophagy axis, protein nutrition in dystrophy
His research combines muscle biopsy, MRI, and in vitro models to explore anabolic resistance and autophagy. Recent publications highlight advancements in protein-carbohydrate synergy, sex-based muscle physiology, and autophagy's role in recovery. Scientific accolades include the ASBMB Postdoctoral Award and Academy of Medical Sciences Springboard Award. He supervises PhD students at Manchester Met and collaborates with the University of Toronto, teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as MSc Clinical Exercise Physiology.
