Nathan Abrams is a Professor of Film at Bangor University, United Kingdom, affiliated with the School of Arts, Culture and Language. He serves as lead director for the Centre for Film, Television and Screen Studies and co-convenes the British Jewish Contemporary Cultures network. His research focuses on Stanley Kubrick’s Jewish intellectual legacy, transatlantic Jewish film, public intellectual history, and environmental sustainability. He holds a Fellowship from the Learned Society of Wales (2020).
Key research areas include Jewish representation in film/TV, post-1990s cultural shifts, and environmental messaging around single-use plastics. He has authored/co-edited over 20 books, including Kubrick: Odyssey (2024) and Stanley Kubrick: New York Jewish Intellectual (2018). His work spans film analysis, historical biographies, and cultural critiques.
Teaching and supervision emphasize postgraduate research in film history, Jewish diaspora studies, and sustainability.
