Nathalie Ville is a Lecturer-Researcher in STAPS (Sciences and Techniques of Physical and Sports Activities) at University of Rennes 2 since 1998. She heads the STAPS degree in Adapted Physical Activities and Health and serves as President of the permanent jury for Validation of Acquired Skills and Experiences. Her research at Signal and Image Processing Laboratory (LTSI) focuses on physical activity monitoring, new technologies in health, and cardiovascular adaptations to exercise.
Research investigates technological innovations for health monitoring, particularly for seniors and cardiovascular patients. Current projects include the ANR ACCORDS (2018-2022) and FEDER Silver@Home (2018-2021) developing home monitoring systems for elderly physical activity. Earlier work includes the PAMAP project creating telemedicine platforms for physical activity control in rehabilitation settings.
Significant research examines cardiac adaptations in athletes and seniors, including studies on bradycardia risks in endurance athletes and cardiovascular benefits of late-onset training. Developed protocols for cardiac safety in fitness centers through European Association of Cardiovascular Prevention surveys.
Teaches exercise physiology, physical assessment methods, and adapted physical activity programming across multiple institutions including Rennes 1 University's medical and pharmacy faculties. Leads international relations for STAPS and organizes community health initiatives like Heart and Sport Day for genetic cardiac disorder awareness.
