Dr. Nathalie Mingboupha is a Teaching Professor in the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Sheffield. She holds a PhD and MSc in East Asian Studies from the University of Sheffield and a BBA from ESSEC Business School (France). Her research focuses on Chinese transnational migrations, particularly the ethnic return migration of Western-born diasporic Chinese and the impact of contemporary Chinese society on their cultural identity. She explores themes such as emotional self-repatriation through media consumption and intergenerational migration dynamics.

Her research interests include qualitative methodologies in social sciences and the study of 'in-between Chineseness.' Current projects involve conceptualizing emotional repatriation via media and tracing multi-generational migration patterns of Chinese families. She teaches courses on Chinese society, media, qualitative research methods, and East Asian cultural studies.
As a mentor, she supervises MA dissertations and graduate research projects. Her work intersects with sociocultural analyses of migration, identity, and media's role in shaping societal perceptions.
