Natasha Wimmer is a Lecturer in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Princeton University, where she teaches a translation workshop (SPA 380/TR A380) during the Spring semester. She is a renowned literary translator, specializing in Spanish and Latin American literature, and holds an office at 351 East Pyne. Her translations of pivotal works, including Roberto Bolaño’s 2666 and Mario Vargas Llosa’s novels, have earned critical acclaim and major awards.
Wimmer’s research interests center on literary translation, postmodern narrative techniques, and cross-cultural dissemination of contemporary fiction. Her translations bridge Spanish and English literary traditions, emphasizing accessibility and fidelity to the original texts.
She has received prestigious honors such as the National Endowment for the Arts Translation Grant (2007), the PEN Translation Award (2008), and the American Academy of Arts and Letters Literature Award (2010).
