Natasha Parikh is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a College Fellow at Harvard University. She specializes in affective neuroscience, focusing on how adults and adolescents regulate emotions through cognitive mechanisms. Her teaching emphasizes a cognitive neuroscience lens while offering courses with broad appeal, such as the Psychology of Music, Programming for Psychologists, and Pandemics and Mental Health.
She holds a PhD in Psychology and Neuroscience from Duke University, where her research with Dr. Kevin LaBar and Dr. Felipe De Brigard explored using imagination to alter negative memory responses. She also earned a B.S. in Mathematical and Computational Biology from Harvey Mudd College, with undergraduate research in attention and body positioning under Dr. Catherine L. Reed.
Her research interests include counterfactual thinking, memory modification, and emotional regulation, with a focus on neural mechanisms. Her work often bridges cognitive neuroscience and clinical applications, particularly in anxiety disorders. She maintains an active presence in academic outreach, as evidenced by her course offerings and the 'Awards' section of her profile.
