Dr. Natasha Hodgson is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Sciences at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), affiliated with the Department of Humanities. She serves as Director of NTU's Centre for Research in History, Heritage and Memory Studies and has been the Unit of Assessment Co-ordinator for History since 2014. She is also an affiliate member of the ISAAC research centre (Imaging for Art History, Archaeology and Conservation) and sits on NTU's College Research Degrees Committee.
Her research spans medieval social, cultural, and gender history with specialization in Crusader studies, Digital Humanities methodologies, and religious conflict. Key areas include Norman identity, political culture, gender constructs, and the analysis of historical narratives through digital visualization techniques. She maintains active collaborations with the University of Canterbury (New Zealand) and the London Society of Antiquaries.
Dr. Hodgson's publications consistently explore intersections of religion, gender, and authority in medieval contexts. Her recent edited volumes examine the role of miracles in political violence, crusading masculinities, and religious conflict across historical periods. Research consistently demonstrates interdisciplinary approaches combining traditional historiography with digital heritage science.

Research Leadership: She currently supervises PhD candidates working on diverse topics including gender confinement in medieval societies, Mexican conquest historiography, crusade musicology, LGBTQ+ representation in heritage, and transatlantic slave trade impacts. Secured funding includes NTU Global Heritage grants and Marsden Seed Fund support for the 'From Myth to Majesty' project analyzing 15th-century royal genealogies.
