Nataliya Turchyn is an Associate Professor of Teaching in the Biological Sciences Department at Wayne State University, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She has been teaching courses such as BIO1510 (Basic Life Mechanisms), BIO2600 (Introduction to Cell Biology), and BIO2870 (Anatomy and Physiology) across multiple academic terms since at least 2023. Her research focuses on developmental and evolutionary biology, particularly in insect appendage development and genetic regulation.
Dr. Turchyn earned her Baccalaureate (2002), Graduate degree (2010), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship (2010-2011) at Wayne State University. She received the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2016, reflecting her commitment to education. Her publications explore topics like the role of nubbin in cricket wing structures and Ubx in leg diversification, contributing to our understanding of developmental genetics and evolutionary mechanisms.
Her work bridges laboratory research with pedagogical innovation, maintaining an active role in both teaching and scholarly contributions within biological sciences.
